What is difference between GPON and XPON?
GPON (Gigabit Passive Optical Network), it is the latest generation of broadband access technology based on ITU -TG.984.x standard. GPON is regarded by most operators as the ideal technology to realize broadband and integrated transformation of access network services because of its high bandwidth, high efficiency, extensive coverage, rich user interface, and so on. XPON ONU is an optical network unit that supports both EPON IEEE 802.3ah standard and GPON ITU-TG.984.x standard, which means it can be used in both EPON and GPON networks. Xpon Onu also can automatically switch in EPON or GPON mode.

GL-E8010U-HZ type ONU products fully comply with IEEE 802.3-2005 and the China Telecom Epon Device technical specification (V2.1). It is operative, manageable and maintainable at telecommunication level, and can provide high speed data service for customers. It has a PON Uplink Port that connects to office end apparatus through Optical Fiber.
