3 Ports CWDM Devices

What is CWDM?

In the early days, technical conditions were limited, and the wavelength interval would be controlled within tens of nm. This kind of dispersed wavelength division multiplexing is called sparse wavelength division multiplexing, which is CWDM (Coarse WDM). The wavelength interval of CWDM is 20nm, the wavelength range is from 1270nm to 1610nm, and there are 18 bands. At the very beginning, the ITU specified wavelength range for CWDM (ITU-T G.694.2) was 1270 to 1610 nm. Later, the ITU changed a bit and shifted the center of the channel by 1 nm, so the center wavelength was 1271 to 1611 nm. However, because there is a significant increase in attenuation in the 1270-1470nm band, many old fibers cannot be used normally, so CWDM generally preferentially uses 8 bands from 1470 to 1610nm.

Wdm Device is widly used in Passive Optical Network(PON). Apart from Coarse Wdm Splitter,Dense Wdm Splitter is also a well-known Wdm Splitter. And they often applied with Epon Onu , Gpon Onu, XPON ONU etc.
